When to choose rhinoplasty?

Self-confident people often choose rhinoplasty because they recognise the value of presenting themselves at their very best, both personally and professionally. They understand that self-confidence not only comes from within, but is also influenced by how they see themselves and how they are seen by others. A rhinoplasty can help improve facial harmony and proportions, which can lead to improved self-image and self-confidence.

A lot is possible with corrections to the nose. The plastic surgeons at Wellness Kliniek aim for a nose that suits your face. Your wishes and expectations are discussed during a no-obligation consultation. Below are a number of reasons for a rhinoplasty or nose tip correction that we regularly hear at Wellness Kliniek.

Total rhinoplasty

For self-assured people, opting for a rhinoplasty is an informed decision and part of the pursuit of self-improvement and feeling personally good. It is usually desirable to adjust several parts of the nose. Nose tip, nasal bridge and/or nostrils, during a total rhinoplasty, the plastic surgeon will try to realise the patient's vision and proceed in such a way that even the most crooked, fat and crooked noses look peaky after a total rhinoplasty.

Nose tip correction

People opt for nose tip correction for aesthetic reasons, such as improving the shape, size or angle of their nose tip, or the whole bulb (tip) of nose. For example, the tip may droop a little, be too thick or create a wiggly nose.In such cases, a nose tip rhinoplasty or refinement of the tip of the nose can help. View nose tip correction before and after photos here.

Nose tip rhinoplasty

Nose tip correction, also known as nose tip correction or tip rhinoplasty, focuses on refining or improving the shape of the nose tip. With a nose tip rhinoplasty, the surgeon will lift a curved tip or refine a nose tip that is too thick.Nasal tip correction is also an important aspect in straightening a nose whose tip points down or up. This specialised procedure is often part of an overall rhinoplasty at Wellness Kliniek.

Nose bridge correction

The nasal bridge is the area above the nasal tip that consists of bone and cartilage. If the nasal bridge is too high, too large or features a nasal bump, for example in the middle or more at the top, then a nasal bridge correction is the solution. This will restore a straighter nose.

A nose bridge correction can be a wonderful opportunity to both beautify your appearance and optimise your breathing function. This rhinoplasty harmonises your facial profile and can improve your quality of life, by making your nose more aesthetically pleasing while improving your breathing.

Reducing nostrils

Wide nostrils make you appear to have a large nose from the front view. The rhinoplasty wide nose, also known as nostril correction, offers the solution in this case. We have written a special page on the nostril correction.

Narrowing the nostrils or correcting a flat nose can also help improve nasal function by increasing airflow, which contributes to better breathing.

Nasal implant

Sometimes the shape needs to be modified such that a nasal implant is desirable. Nasal implants are used for cosmetic enhancement, reconstruction of the nose after an accident, correction of congenital defects such as a saddle nose, secondary rhinoplasty or restoration of nasal tissue lost through disease or surgery.

Nose tip filler

A nasal tip filler is a non-surgical option for refining the shape of your nasal tip, for improving symmetry, or subtly lifting the tip of your nose for a more aesthetically pleasing nasal profile, without surgery. Injecting a filler (filler) into the tip or tip of the nose gives immediate results with minimal recovery time, making it a popular choice for men and women who want quick results without prolonged downtime.

Whether this natural rhinoplasty is among the options for your nose will be revealed during a no-obligation consultation. Read more about safe, registered fillers for the nose and see the transparent price list: prices fillers.

Correcting a crooked, thin or thick nose

The nose is a prominent part of the face. Virtually the centrepiece, so the nose stands out well. A crooked, thin or thick nose can be corrected by a qualified doctor specialising in nasal surgery. It is important to choose a specialist with extensive experience and a proven track record in rhinoplasty to ensure the best results. At Wellness Kliniek, you can get free advice and specialist nose correction.

Secondary rhinoplasty

Secondary rhinoplasty, also known as revision rhinoplasty, is an operation performed to improve the result of a previous nose surgery. The best surgeon for a secondary rhinoplasty is a doctor who is highly experienced in nasal surgery and successfully performing nose revision procedures. At Wellness Kliniek, you will find plastic surgeons specialised in revision surgery of the nose.

Frequently asked questions about rhinoplasty

How does a rhinoplasty happen?

A rhinoplasty or nose job at Wellness Kliniek is a highly technological and well-planned surgical procedure performed to change the shape of the nose. Each nose surgery varies, but generally involves the following steps:

  • Consultation and planning rhinoplasty: The surgeon listens to your needs, assesses the anatomy of your nose and draws up a personalised treatment plan for you.
  • Anaesthesia rhinoplasty: The procedure is usually performed under general anaesthesia, although local anaesthesia with sedation is sometimes possible.
  • Scar-free rhinoplasty: A rhinoplasty at Wellness Kliniek is usually done through the nostrils, on the inside of the nose, so you won't see any scars later. We use two main techniques:
    - The closed rhinoplasty where incisions are hidden within the nostrils.
    - The open rhinoplasty where the surgeon makes an additional incision in the columella (the piece of skin between the nostrils).
  • Reconstruction of the nose: the surgeon will reshape, remove or add nasal bone and cartilage to achieve the desired shape. This may include reducing the size of the nasal bridge, reshaping the tip, and/or adjusting the nostrils.
  • Nasal septum correction: Functional aspects that affect breathing, such as a crooked septum, can be addressed during the same surgery. The nasal septum is the separation between the two nasal cavities in your nose. The septum or nasal septum consists of cartilage at the bottom and bone at the top. Sometimes your septum can be crooked and cause breathing problems, nasal congestion or snoring.
  • Nose job wide nose: Refining a wide nose focuses on narrowing the bridge of the nose and the nostrils to create a finer, more proportioned nose shape that better fits the rest of your face. The plastic surgeon will carefully reshape and adjust the nasal bone and nasal cartilage.
  • Closing the incisions: After reshaping the nose, the surgeon will close the incisions with dissolvable sutures. Soluble sutures are sutures that dissolve and fall out on their own, eliminating the need to remove them, significantly increasing patient comfort.
  • Rhinoplasty recovery: After your nose surgery, you will receive a splint on your nose to support it during the healing process. The initial recovery period takes about a week, during which swelling and bruising may occur, but it can take up to one year to 18 months to see the final final result.

Exactly how the correction of the nose works depends on the type of rhinoplasty, such as a nose tip rhinoplasty, nose bridge rhinoplasty or a reduction of the nostrils. During the free consultation, the doctor will inform you what to expect from the (duration of) the procedure and the recovery period.

Who is a rhinoplasty suitable for?

A rhinoplasty is suitable for women and men, aged 18-20 and above, who want to improve their appearance by adjusting the shape, size or symmetry of their nose, or who want to solve breathing difficulties. It is important that you have good health, the emotional maturity to cope with the procedure and the recovery process, and realistic expectations.

The shape of the nose is very personal and determines the appearance of the entire face. The aim of this procedure is to make the nose fit the face nicely. If you are self-confident and want to beautify your appearance then you might be a good candidate for rhinoplasty.

Nose reduction, what are the options?

If you want to have your nose reduced, there are many options. We can make the shape of the nose tip and the angle between the nose and the upper lip more attractive. It is also possible to flatten bumps, or a lump or bump on the nose, make the nose straighter, shorter, narrower or wider. In fact, we can adjust all sorts of things. Of course, you will first get personalised advice from an experienced plastic surgeon.

How long does a rhinoplasty take?

On average, the operation takes 2 hours. For simpler procedures, such as fillers or minor adjustments to the nose tip, the duration may be shorter. More complex corrections, such as adjusting the bridge of the nose, reducing the size of the nose, or correcting functional problems, may take longer. The duration of the rhinoplasty will be discussed with you beforehand. After the procedure, you will stay at the clinic for a few hours and you can go home or to your hotel the same day.

Rhinoplasty recovery: how long does it take?

Recovery after rhinoplasty is important to consider when you have nose surgery done. Swelling and bruising usually subside after a week to 10 days. Most people resume normal activities within 2 weeks. Complete healing and the final result becoming visible may take several months, up to one year or even a little longer.

Does a rhinoplasty hurt?

A total rhinoplasty is performed at Wellness Kliniek under general anaesthesia, which means you won't feel any pain during the operation. After surgery, however, you may experience some discomfort, swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes. The level of pain or discomfort varies from person to person, but most patients report that with painkillers, the discomfort is quite bearable and subsides within the first week after surgery. It is important to follow your surgeon's aftercare instructions carefully for the most comfortable and speedy recovery possible.

What living rules after rhinoplasty?

After the operation, you will receive aftercare instructions specific to your operation. Keep in mind that you should not bend over or lift heavily immediately after a nose job, as this can cause bleeding.

  • Sleep with pillows: Get plenty of rest in the first week after surgery and sleep with your head higher than your heart to reduce facial swelling.
  • Avoid physical exertion: Limit heavy physical activities and sports for 4 to 6 weeks to avoid increasing pressure in your face and not interfere with the recovery process.
  • Avoid pressure on your nose: Take care when dressing and avoid wearing your glasses directly on your nasal bridge in the first weeks after surgery.
  • No blowing your nose after rhinoplasty: Avoid extra pressure by blowing your nose. You can rinse your nose with water, if necessary.
  • Don't smoke, don't take drugs: Smoking and drugs can hinder the healing process and should be avoided. It is also best to avoid passive smoking or exposure to air pollutants.

Carefully follow all instructions from your surgeon at Wellness Kliniek, including scheduling follow-up appointments.

How often is a follow-up after rhinoplasty desirable?

Right after the procedure, we advise you to come back to the Wellness Kliniek for a follow-up check. Do you live far from the clinic? Then the plastic surgeon can optionally speak to you, for follow-up appointments, via remote tele-meetings. In addition, the doctor will give a referral letter for your local doctor or nurse if necessary. Follow-up via tele-meeting is often convenient for our international clients.

How is aftercare after rhinoplasty organised?

Wellness Kliniek has a large international clientele and is well organised for patients who live far away. Follow-up consultations are organised in different ways to facilitate both follow-up care and communication with the surgeon.

  • Free aftercare: Every patient is welcome for follow-up. Follow-up aftercare consultations within the year after surgery are free at Wellness Kliniek.
  • Personalised aftercare instructions: Patients receive detailed aftercare instructions. The Wellness Kliniek team is available to you 24/7 until full recovery. Contact your doctor for any questions or concerns that arise after surgery on the special number given to you after surgery.
  • Immediate aftercare: International clients are advised to stay near the clinic for a few days after surgery. This enables immediate follow-up checks. Thereafter, follow-up can be via tele-consultation.
  • Virtual consultations: Wellness Kliniek offers its patients the option of virtual consultations, tele-consultations or e-consultations, via video conferencing. This enables patients to communicate with their surgeon at Wellness Kliniek from their home country for follow-up care and any queries.
  • Cooperation with local healthcare providers: Patients receive a referral letter for doctors or healthcare providers in their home country for any follow-up care or necessary follow-up treatments.
  • Emergency contact: For urgent matters, all operated patients at Wellness Kliniek are offered a direct contact method, such as the mobile phone number of their attending surgeon, to get quick medical advice or instructions in case of emergency.
What does rhinoplasty mean?

The Latin name for rhinoplasty is rhinoplasty or rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to change the appearance of the nose or improve nasal function. This surgery can adjust the shape, size and overall proportions of the nose, as well as correct breathing problems.

If you see the term septorhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty, it specifically refers to a nasal surgery in which abnormalities of the nasal bone and cartilage are adjusted. The combination of these two procedures, is called rhinoseptoplasty (rhinoseptoplasty).

What to look out for with rhinoplasty?

When considering a rhinoplasty, nose job, or rhinoplasty, it is important to choose a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon, have realistic expectations about the results, and fully understand the risks, recovery process and costs involved.

Wellness Kliniek in Belgium has +25 years of experience and won the WhatClinic award for excellent patient experience. Moreover, price lists are comprehensive and prices all-inclusive. Looking for the best rhinoplasty surgeon? Considering a second opinion (second opinion) can be valuable to be sure of your decision. When in doubt, therefore, request a second consultation at a specialised centre, such as Wellness Kliniek Belgium or Barcelona.

From what age can I have a rhinoplasty done?

At Wellness Kliniek, we recommend only having a rhinoplasty done after your teenage years, as your nose is often only then fully grown. For girls, we recommend the age from 18 onwards, for boys it's 20. Your nose is then fully developed, so the results of the rhinoplasty remain stable.

Can I choose what my nose will look like after rhinoplasty?

Yes. At Wellness Kliniek, you can indicate your wishes during the consultation. In consultation with your surgeon, you can decide what your nose will look like after rhinoplasty. The consultation includes discussing your wishes, possibly viewing before and after photos to visualise the desired results. However, it is important to have realistic expectations. Know that the final result will be affected by the anatomical structure of your nose and how your bone, cartilage and skin will heal. Feel free to bring photos of 'beautiful noses'. The doctor will inform you personally about what is possible for your nose.

Is a rhinoplasty permanent?

Yes. In principle, the result of a rhinoplasty is permanent. However, changes may occur due to ageing, or there may be a need for additional surgery (revision) or adjustment to have maximum beautiful results. Plastic surgeons, such as the experts at Wellness Kliniek in Belgium and Spain, recommend waiting at least 12 to 18 months before undergoing any additional surgery.

What are the risks involved in rhinoplasty?

The risks of rhinoplasty include infections, bleeding, breathing problems and dissatisfaction with the aesthetic result. Sometimes the best rhinoplasty result is achieved in 2 steps. Nose job experts, such as at Wellness Kliniek Belgium and Spain, recommend waiting at least one year or slightly longer before having an additional (revision) procedure done after your rhinoplasty.

What if I am not satisfied with the result after rhinoplasty?

If you are not satisfied with the result after rhinoplasty, it is important to discuss this with your surgeon. Sometimes a reoperation, known as secondary or revision rhinoplasty, may be necessary to achieve the desired result, but this is usually only considered after the nose has fully healed from the initial surgery.

Why rhinoplasty revision?

Only after 12 to 18 months will the final result and shape of your rhinoplasty become visible, which is essential for planning any additional (revision) surgery. Of course, you want to know why:

  • Nasal cartilage has memory: The concept of 'cartilage memory' refers to the urge of cartilage to return to its original shape. This 'memory' can lead to corrections made during the initial surgery taking some time to fully stabilise. Waiting gives the cartilage time to adjust, or not, to the newly made shape, making the needs of any follow-up surgery more predictable.
  • Let your nose heal: The healing process after rhinoplasty is complex and involves the skin as well as the underlying cartilage and bone. Wait 12 to 18 months for complete healing. By respecting this period, both the patient and the surgeon can better assess whether additional surgery is needed to further improve the result.
  • Get used to your new nose: Allow your nose time to heal for 12 to 18 months. This waiting period is also necessary to get used to your new nose. Very often, we see that the desire for additional adjustments diminishes or changes after this important waiting period.
How safe is a rhinoplasty?

If you choose a clinic with an internationally recognised quality mark, and demonstrably experienced surgeons, you can safely undergo a rhinoplasty. Check out patient reviews to learn more about other people's experiences. At Wellness Kliniek, quality, safety and expertise are paramount. Learn more about the experience of the plastic surgeons and expert specialists on the surgeons page.

What are the rhinoplasty advantages and disadvantages?

Even a subtle rhinoplasty can make you feel more confident about your appearance or breathe better through your nose. Even a small adjustment can do a lot for your face. A rhinoplasty creates better proportions, so you are more satisfied with your looks. Besides more facial balance, another great advantage of a rhinoplasty is that no (or hardly any) scars are visible.

Rhinoplasty can offer aesthetic improvements and functional benefits, but can also have drawbacks and risks such as complications during surgery, recovery time, and the possibility that the result may not meet expectations.

Careful consideration and consultation with a qualified surgeon are essential to maximise the benefits and minimise the drawbacks.

What is the best rhinoplasty clinic in Europe?

When finding a good rhinoplasty clinic, we recommend you pay attention to a number of factors, such as the clinic's quality assurance, the surgeons' expertise and experiences of previous patients. This way, you can judge for yourself whether it is a good clinic for rhinoplasty or other plastic surgery. European plastic surgeons, such as those in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, England and Spain, are well-trained. Wellness Kliniek in Belgium and Spain offers ISO 9001 quality guarantee and transparent price lists. In addition, the clinic won the WhatClinic Award for excellent patient experience several years in a row.

Why rhinoplasty abroad?

More and more people are opting for a rhinoplasty in Belgium or Spain, like at Wellness Kliniek. Rhinoplasty abroad is often cheaper. Many people are keen not only to save costs, but also to access surgeons and clinics with a high reputation that specialise in specific aesthetic techniques, such as rhinoplasty. An additional advantage of plastic surgery abroad is to combine your recovery with a holiday in a different environment. Plastic surgery abroad also offers more privacy during the recovery process.

Who is the best surgeon for rhinoplasty?

To find the best surgeon for rhinoplasty, start by thoroughly researching a highly regarded clinic with specialists with extensive experience in rhinoplasty. Look for reviews, view rhinoplasty before and after photos, and quality certifications from official recognised committees such as ISO (International Standard Organisation) standards to assess the expertise and results of the surgeons and clinic. Also consult patient testimonials and consider a consultation to personally experience the surgeon's approach, philosophy, and communication style. Choosing a clinic with an official seal of quality with surgeons specialising in rhinoplasty with proven success stories increases your chances of a successful outcome.
