Reasons for choosing to replace breast implants

And can be numerous reasons for choosing breast implant replacement, such as:

  • You are no longer satisfied with the cup size/size and would prefer larger or smaller prostheses.
  • You want to have your implants completely removed.
  • You want to have your breasts reshaped because they no longer have the appearance you would like due to pregnancy or weight loss.
  • You suffer from severe capsular contracture, which has caused your breasts to harden or change shape.
  • You want to follow the standard advice to have your implants replaced every 10 years (manufacturers give a 10-year guarantee).
  • You have old implants, which are (possibly) leaking or cracked.

You sometimes hear in the media about leaking breast prostheses. This can occur with implants from the 1990s or older. The doctors at Wellness Kliniek only use implants of the best quality. With the latest generation implants, the chances of you having to have your implants replaced because of this are virtually impossible. We advise you to have your breast implants checked regularly by a surgeon.

Replacing breast implants: the procedure

The procedure is the same as for a breast enlargement. Since there is already a minimal scar from the breast enlargement, the surgeon will make the incision in the same place if possible. This way, no new scar is created. Then the old implant is removed and the new implant inserted.
