Everything about Botox

Botox treatment is one of the most well-known and popular cosmetic procedures. A Botox injection blocks the transmission of stimuli from the nerves to the muscles. Want to get rid of a frown line that makes you look angry or tired? Bothered by the wrinkles on your forehead, along your mouth or your crow's feet? Botox fades wrinkles and gives you a fresh and rested look.

The benefits of Botox

Botox is the brand name of Botulinum toxin and is primarily used to fade and prevent facial wrinkles. Botox is ideal for targeting different areas: crow's feet, frown lines, horizontal lines on your forehead, lines around your mouth, along your nose or on your neck. Injecting Botox causes the strength of your muscles to decrease. As a result, you frown less, your facial expression relaxes and your wrinkles fade.

Botox for migraines or sweating

In addition to treating wrinkles, it offers several other benefits. Muscle relaxants also have medical benefits and can reduce migraines or tension headaches. Botox can therefore help against migraines. Furthermore, injecting Botox can also deactivate the 'sweat signal' and Botox works against excessive sweating. The difference between Botox and fillers

Botox and fillers are often confused with each other. They are both injectables that are used to combat wrinkles and other signs of ageing. Both Botox and fillers are temporary and are a liquid that is injected with a needle.

Fillers are mainly used to give more volume to certain parts of your face. For example, when your face loses volume as you age, or it can be used to create volume in places that have never really had volume. Fillers are most commonly used for sunken cheeks, puffiness, wrinkles around the mouth, lips and cheekbones.

When to start with Botox

When you start with Botox does not immediately depend on your age and differs from person to person. How quickly someone gets wrinkles depends on a number of factors such as heredity, lifestyle such as stress, smoking, sun damage, alcohol, but also having any (chronic) diseases. The movements of your face also play a role. Wrinkles are created when we move our facial muscles. Our skin is compressed, causing it to fold. As you get older, a line forms where your skin is constantly pushed together. If you don't do anything about this, after a while this will become a crease that is permanent. You can start Botox treatment to prevent wrinkles or to make wrinkles disappear.

Preventive Botox treatment

If you start Botox treatment before your face shows wrinkles, we call it "preventive Botox". The wrinkles of the upper face are then the best eligible. Because facial movements are limited, fewer lines and therefore folds can be formed.

The sooner you start Botox treatment, the less product we need to achieve the desired effect. This is also known as "baby Botox".

Botox: the treatment

Botox treatment takes about 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the number of zones that you have treated. Together with the consultation beforehand, the appointment lasts about half an hour. Botox is injected into your skin with a very thin needle. Most people experience the Botox injections as not painful.

After the treatment, you will have no pain and you can resume your normal daily activities. You should not lie down or exercise for four hours after the treatment. Don't bend your head forward too long. During the first 24 hours, you are not allowed to sunbathe, use a sunbed or go to the sauna.

Botox result

Botox gives a natural result that is visible about a week to two weeks after the treatment. Botox treatment is not permanent because Botox is gradually broken down by the body. The effect usually disappears after three to five months. After several treatments, the effect may last longer.

Botox treatment gives you a fresh look. It gets rid of an angry and tired look, drooping corners of the mouth and it can lift your eyebrows slightly. Who wouldn't be happy about this?!

Stopping Botox treatment

You can stop using Botox at any time. It's not that when you stop, the wrinkles will immediately look worse. If you stop Botox treatments, your face will gradually return to the way it was before. Botox has slowed down and certainly not aggravated the ageing process. If desired, you can resume treatment at any time.
