At the Wellness Kliniek liposculpture is always performed by a doctor in a fully equipped operating theatre with monitoring equipment, skilled nurses and in a controlled sterile environment.

A precise quantity of serum is injected into the area being treated. Local anaesthetic is used and the risk of bleeding is eliminated. The doctor uses a much finer needle to remove the fat using less pressure.

Bruising, if there is any, will disappear within two weeks.  The risk of any irregularities is considerably smaller and there is no blood loss. The doctor can work more effectively because without any of the aforementioned risks a greater volume of fat can be removed at once.

Fat can be removed and transplanted in an area which needs more volume.

Sometimes the body shape is not just improved by removing excess fat, but by filling dents or folds of skin. The transplanted fat cells grow into the new area and provide the required extra volume.

A general anaesthetic is best avoided.

Intravenous sedation offers many advantages, you can discuss the degree of sedation in advance with your anaesthetist.

A great deal is possible with just a simple local anaesthetic. The type of anaesthetic depends on your preference and chosen treatment.

Who is not a suitable candidate?

The procedure is not designed for general weight loss. If you are overweight, you are advised to follow a supervised weight loss programme first. 

The accumulation of fluid "lymfoedema tarda" is often the cause of puffy legs. If you suffer from this condition, liposculpture has little effect. Fluid accumulation is not affected by liposculpture.

Are the results permanent?

If you have an accumulation of fat in the stomach area and the skin is still elastic, then liposculpture is perfect for attaining a flat stomach again.

Sometimes, the muscles of the stomach can become slack. These muscles can be tightened during the same procedure. A small 1-2 cm scar is hidden between the pubic hair and the navel. The surgeon is also able to make the waist narrower in the same way, without leaving a visible scar.

If your skin has lost its elasticity then liposculpture alone may not produce the desired result; a tummy tuck may also be necessary to remove excess skin. The muscles are usually tightened at the same time.
