Liposculpture for the arms:
If your arms are too fat but your skin hasn't lost its elasticity then your best option is liposculpture - liposuction of the upper arms.
Modern liposculpture uses the tumescent infiltration technique: a large quantity of serum is injected into the fat. A local anaesthetic is used and there is no post-operative bleeding. This means that the doctor can suck out the fat using finer needles with lower pressure (=PAL =Power Assisted Liposuction technique).
Liposculpture has a positive side-effect: after treatment the skin is usually firmer.
Liposculpture of the upper arms lasts about 1 hour, depending on the quantity of fat that is removed.
Arm Lift:
Skin reduction upper arms: Excess saggy skin is a common aesthetic problem. Especially after pregnancy, considerable weight loss or just with age as the skin loses its elasticity. Excess skin can best be surgically removed, in exchange for a scar.
An arm lift is suitable for patients with a lot of excess skin (e.g. bingo wings). The skin is often thin and there is very little subcutaneous fat. Lifting the skin on the upper arms takes about 1 to 1,5 hours.
Arm Lift with Liposcupture:
Excess skin removal can be combined with liposculpture: fat removal. Sometimes this procedure is performed in two stages to achieve the best results.
Scarring
Scars from an arm correction are made where they are least noticeable. The scar is different for each procedure and is discussed with you in detail in advance.
- With liposculpture a few small incisions are made in the skin. The scars are barely noticeable, and sometimes totally invisible.
- Excess skin is best removed from the inside of the upper arm.
Scars tend to be red and lumpy for the first 3 months but within 12 months they settle down and start to fade. This natural scar maturing process can be accelerated with a high dose of scar oil which the surgeon will prescribe for you if necessary.
Your appointment for treatment
Liposculpture and Arm Lift surgery is performed on an outpatient basis. This means that you arrive at the Wellness Kliniek in the morning for your procedure. After the operation you rest for the day in one of our patient rooms. The same evening you are fit and well enough to return home or to your hotel.
For larger arm lift surgical procedures you stay at the kliniek overnight.
Each procedure is very different and can vary from one person to another. During the discussion with the surgeon it will become apparent which technique will achieve the best results for you, and what exactly you can expect.
