Dental Implants

Implants

Aesthetic dentistry has made significant advances in the last few years. False teeth are now much more beautiful, and look as natural as real teeth.

At the Wellness Kliniek we offer a complete range of aesthetic dentistry: implants - aesthetic implant surgery - are an important aspect.

Dental implants placed safely at Wellness Kliniek

There can be several reasons for choosing dental implants. If you are missing one or more teeth, this can be solved with implantology. Even if you are not satisfied with the appearance of your teeth, implants can offer a solution.

You should always select a specialist clinic. At Wellness Kliniek, we use the most experienced surgeons, so you are assured of a radiant result. Of course, our procedures are also safe and meet the highest standards.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a titanium screw that is placed in your jaw as an artificial root. It takes over the function of your natural tooth root. This basis can then be used for placing crowns, bridges and prostheses. The length and diameter of the screw will differ, depending on your teeth. A dental implant is therefore truly tailor-made.

What is a dental implant made of?

Our screws (the artificial roots) are made of titanium. The advantage of this material is that it is not rejected by the body. Bone can grow directly against it. The titanium has been processed in such a way that it can sit securely in the jawbone and the conditions for fast growth are promoted.

What is the lifespan of dental implants?

How long does a dental implant last? We must emphasise that this can differ from person to person and that it depends on various conditions, including oral hygiene. The standard is at least 10 years, but dental implants that last a lifetime are no exception with us. Periodic checks allow timely intervention if necessary.

What are the benefits of dental implants?
  • They function well as a basis for crowns (artificial teeth) or prostheses.
  • They prevent further bone loss in the jaw.
  • Titanium implants are very well tolerated and pose little risk.
  • They are extremely strong.
  • Healthy teeth in the vicinity of dental prostheses are not damaged.
  • Full-teeth dental implants are possible.
  • Aesthetically highly recommended, especially when finished with a crown.
Any drawbacks of dental implants?

If you have naturally healthy and beautiful teeth, that is preferred, but if you have brittle or lost teeth, an implant is an excellent alternative. It is one of the most permanent options and involves few risks. You must practise good oral hygiene to prevent inflammation. Drawbacks compared to the preservation of your natural teeth are that it is an expensive technique and the healing time takes about two months.

At Wellness Kliniek, we believe your teeth should be naturally radiant. You see no difference with real teeth, but you do get teeth that are nice and straight. Who would benefit from dental implants?

A dental implant is a good choice if you have one or more natural teeth that are brittle, seem to be breaking off, or don’t look good. If your teeth are completely rotten, we can even replace all of your teeth with implants. Implants also offer a solution for partial tooth decay.

Can anyone have dental implants fitted? No, you must have sufficient jawbone to properly anchor the implant. This will mostly be the case, but there are also adults who don’t have enough jawbone due to genetic factors.

You must also have reached the minimum age of 18. At this age, on average, the jawbone is fully grown.

Our consulting doctor always checks whether dental implants are the best option for you and is also open to discuss alternative dental treatment. This way, you can be sure the dental treatment you go for is the best option for your teeth.

Dental implant: the procedure

An implant is in fact an artificial tooth root that is placed in the bone. The implant is made of titanium and looks like a cylinder or screw. They are about the same size as a natural tooth root.

Preparation

During the first consultation, the dentist will examine your teeth to determine whether dental implants are a solution for you. The following is important:

  • Your mouth is clean and you have no infections.
  • You have sufficient and firm jawbone.

If there is an inflammation in your mouth, it must first be eliminated before the dental implant is placed. Fortunately, this can often be solved quickly.

The procedure

What does the procedure entail? During the procedure, you will get a local anaesthetic, after which one or more teeth can be fitted with implants. Exactly how long the procedure takes depends on the number of missing teeth and the condition of your existing teeth. This truly is custom work. During the consultation, the doctor can explain the best approach for your teeth in detail.

What to expect?

Titanium is a strong and super-light metal that is very well tolerated by the body. Allergy and rejection are rare because of the high biocompatibility. In about 99% of the cases, the implant grows securely into the jawbone.

After the procedure, when the anaesthetic has worn off, you may experience some pain and/or swelling. This pain is not too bad; you can take a painkiller if you want. You may drive after the procedure. The stitches dissolve within two weeks. On average, the complete healing phase takes six to 10 weeks.

There are some factors that can delay or impede recovery. They include medicines for osteoporosis or smoking. Good oral hygiene is extremely important. Our doctor will of course advise you on this, so you can recover as soon as possible. If you follow the guidelines for after-care, the chance of problems is minimal.

What are the costs of a dental implant?

If you’ve done some research on dental implants, you’ve probably found that this treatment isn’t cheap. This is partly due to the durable material that is used for implants and the customisation involved.

At Wellness Kliniek, we aim to keep prices as low as possible, with transparent all-in rates, so you know in advance what to expect. If you have multiple implants placed, you will receive a discount because it saves time compared to placing a single implant separately. Follow this link for the current prices of dental implants.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have implants fitted in a single day?
Yes. The new two-phase treatment makes it possible to fit implants and teeth in a single day. The innovative new method signifies a major simplification of the treatment for the patient as well as for the dentist. Of course the results depend on the natural colour of your teeth and your personal circumstances. The aim is to achieve the optimal and maximum results for you. This can be done in 1 session lasting 1 hour.
Are dental implants expensive?
The cost is always relative. Dental implants will be slightly more expensive than permanent bridges and crowns, or a set of dentures, but they are cost effective because they last so much longer.
Why are dental implants cheaper in some countries?
The price of implants may vary. Why? Implants are produced in different countries and the price differs from one manufacturer, and one country, to another. In general, expensive implants are produced in the USA, Germany and Switzerland. Countries such as Japan, China and Israel produce cheaper implants.
What dental implants will I get?
Rest assured, the Wellness Kliniek always selects the very best materials. Our implantologists work closely with the worlds leading manufacturers of dental implants, such as Nobel Biocare (Switzerland) and Bicon (USA).
How long does it take to fit dental implants?
This depends on the number and position of the implants to be fitted. Most treatments last between 45 and 90 minutes.
