SMAS Facelift & Neck lift
SMAS Face and Neck lift. Detailed price list and before and after photos. ISO quality guarantee.
A full SMAS facelift with neck correction is still the best option for correcting prematurely aging skin and slack facial muscles. This method requires superb surgical skill and extensive experience. As a result of the alternative, simpler and therefore cheaper techniques - such as the MACS lift and other Minilifts - a full SMAS Facelift is now performed less often than before.
Nevertheless the full SMAS facelift with a neck lift is still the ultimate technique for a beautiful, well-balanced rejuvenation of prematurely slack neck and facial skin and muscle.
When skillfully performed the Deep plane full SMAS lift technique gives a very natural and long-lasting result.

SMAS facelift with SMAS neck liftWith a full Facelift, also called a SMAS lift, sub-SMAS, Subcutaneous Lift or Deep Plane Lift, the skin on the cheeks and neck is partly detached. Several incisions are made, often also behind the ear and under the chin. This is because a lot of skin is usually removed and all subcutaneous facial structures are corrected. |
SMAS Facelift with Neck lift
The subcutaneous SMAS tissue (SMAS: Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) weighs more than the skin itself. By lifting and tightening the SMAS the skin will also look much tighter.
Any excess skin is only removed after the SMAS has been lifted and secured in place. The skin is stitched without any tension which results in a natural-looking lift.
An SMAS face and neck lift is often combined with a forehead and eyebrow lift.
A Deep plane SMAS face and neck lift treats sagging skin and muscles, subcutaneous fat and connective tissue which are in a more advanced stage of aging. Usually the skin and muscles of the neck as well as the face are loose and saggy. An SMAS facelift treats the deepest 2/3 of the face, the SMAS neck lift improves and firms the contour of the neck.
When performing an SMAS facelift and neck correction the surgeon strives to create a result which is as natural-looking as possible to match your personal image. The definite results of your SMAS facelift are visible after two to three months.
Characteristics of the Deep Plane SMAS Face and Neck lift are:
- Length of the operation: 2 - 2,5 hours
- After the procedure you stay at the Kliniek overnight
- Intravenous sedation
- Correction of the muscles and connective tissue: vertical lifting of the face and neck
- SMAS plication of the face and neck
- Excess skin is removed from the face and neck
- Natural-looking result
- Treatment for deep wrinkles: firming with a long-lasting result
- Post-operative recovery: 2 to 3 weeks
- Small scars: around the ear and in the hairline
- Safe, with very few complications.
No general anaesthetic !
A full SMAS facelift can also be perfomed under intravenous sedation. You are spared the effects of a general anaesthetic; though you are still asleep and feel no pain. You are given an infusion containing some calming, analgesic and pain reducing medication. It is the most patient-friendly and safest form of anaesthetic.
SMAS Facelift with slow-dissolving antibiotic stitches
A facelift does not only correct the SKIN, but also the MUSCLES, subcutaneous FAT and CONNECTIVE TISSUE of the face. The SKIN is partially detached and any excess wrinkled skin is removed. With an SMAS - or SUB- SMAS LIFT the underlying muscle layer is lifted and stitched into place. Additional slow-dissolving antibiotic stitches can provide additional support for the jaw- and cheek contour.
The special elastic, antibiotic stitches used at the Wellness Kliniek slowly dissolve. They disappear when the lifted tissue has grown into place. This prevents the body rejecting the stitches at a later stage.
SMAS Facelift and Neck lift
After a face or neck lift procedure you usually need to stay at the kliniek overnight to receive your immediate post-operative care. You should take into account the fact that your normal activities will be limited for a short while. Allow yourself time to rest and plan your social activities carefully.
Each procedure is personal and can vary from one person to another. Before you undergo a particular operation it is important that you are well informed, also with regards to your aftercare and recovery period. After surgery you may experience temporary or permanent sensory disturbance or loss of feeling. Sometimes the feeling doesn't return or the sensor disturbance remains. Usually after 12-18 months this problem will disappear.
Your doctor is the best source of information and will provide you with details about the expected recovery period for your particular procedure. You will be given specific instructions after your treatment, make sure that you follow them carefully.
