Yes, the volume and projection of the prosthesis are determined precisely during the consultation with the surgeon. After breast augmentation, you may have muscle pain at the level of the chest. This is because the breast prostheses are placed under or between the pectoral muscle (dual plane technique). In some cases, excessive capsule formation occurs after breast augmentation. Symptoms of excessive capsule formation are hard and misshapen breasts, which can also be painful. During your consultation, you will meet the surgeon who will perform your surgery. The consultation will start by asking you what you expect from your surgery.
Your surgeon will then perform a medical examination to assess whether your chest is suitable to accommodate the breast implants.
To decide which implant fits best with your figure, you are going to try different sizes and models. Based on this, your surgeon will be able to give you an idea of which type of implant and incision location is appropriate for your desired outcome.
Your surgery will be performed under intravenous sleep sedation. This stops you from feeling pain and puts you under a state of unconsciousness. Your anaesthetist will insert a needle into your arm through which the medication will be injected. It takes about 10 seconds to start having an effect. Once asleep the surgeon will make a small incision (2-3 centimeters), thanks to our MIBIS technique, in the area agreed upon during the consultation. After placing both implants, the symmetry can be checked and adjusted. The incision will be closed with 3 layers of dissoluble sutures. The treatment ends with a tight compression bandage that is wrapped around your chest.
After surgery, you'll be taken to the recovery area where you will be closely monitored by your anesthetist and nursing team. The anesthetist will start the wake-up process. Whilst you start to awake, your bodily functions will routinely be monitored. Once you are fully conscious, you will be taken to your room where you can continue resting until you feel fit enough to be brought home.
At the end of the surgery, the surgical team will apply a compression bandage. This bandage is key to the MIBIS technique and will need to be worn for 14 days. Usually, you will feel sore during the first 3 to 5 day after the operation.
After the removal of the bandage, the implants may appear high and swollen. This is completely normal and marks the start of the Drop & Full process. Avoid sports and heavy lifting for the first 6 weeks of the recovery period.
After 6 to 9 months, the scar will be nearly invisible!
