HYPERHIDROSIS-PROFUSE SWEATING |
|

Profuse sweating, often with its typical odor, can be awkward. Wet hand
palms may wrongly suggest anxiety. Wet armpits or socks can be a social
hindrance. Fortunately there is modern medicine to offer hope.
Medical problems, which may be the underlying cause, should be excluded
before any surgical attempt to solve the problem.
The sweat glands of the armpits, hand palms and feet can be temporarily
paralyzed by the injection of diffuse botulinum toxin into these areas.
The effect lasts for about three months.
In areas that are difficult to anaesthetize with local anesthetic,
intravenous sedation can be of great help. In that case, rather than
walking straight out of the hospital after the therapy, you stay in
one of our comfortable patient rooms for the day-until optimal recovery.
A permanent solution of crippling hyperhidrosis can be found in endoscopic
treatment of the nerves that cause the problem.

The sweat glands of the armpits can be removed surgically. This offers
a permanent cure. It is a treatment preferred by patients who
suffer severe, year-round, sweating problems.
