| THE MONOBLOC IMPLANT
The monobloc is filled with 3.7% carboxy methylcellulose
and 96.3% saline solution. With a special infiltration system
it can be inserted via a small incision in the nipple area. Like
the salt water implant, the monobloc allows the breasts to be
x-rayed. If the implants ever do happen to leak, the cellulose
can be surgically removed.
CAN I CHOOSE MY BRA SIZE?
Yes.
Inform the surgeon of your wishes and he will calculate
the required volume increase.
POST-OPERATIVE RECOVERY
It takes a few weeks for the implants to settle.
It is possible that after the surgery you will experience chest
and back pain .The breasts may also feel tense. In some cases
a breast band or supportive brassiere must be worn for three to
ten days.
Most patients continue with light activity immediately following
surgery while all other activity can be resumed in three weeks.
ARE SILICON IMPLANTS SAFE?
There is no scientific evidence that silicone causes
breast cancer, arthritis or immune deficiencies. With liquid silicone
gel filling, in case of damage to the implant, the leaked silicone
has a tendency to spread through the body tissues.
Modern silicone implants are made with a strong outer shell filled
with a cohesive mass of silicone to avoid leaking. Surgical removal
is then a more straightforward procedure.
WILL THE IMPLANTS EVER HAVE TO BE REMOVED?
In some cases, the body forms a hard capsule around
the breast and the breasts become hard and painful. The body can
also reject the implants. Encapsulation and rejection are rare.
Normally, complications do not occur and you will likely experience
many years of pleasure from your implants.
HOW LONG CAN IMPLANTS STAY IN?
Hundreds of women still have their original implants
after 20 years. Considering the better quality of modern implants,
a significant number of patients are likely to have a lifetime
of pleasure from the original implants.
In the Wellness Kliniek we use implants with the
strongest casings available according to CE-testing. Prosthesis
that have a known weaker casing are not used, even if the patient
insists on a cheaper alternative.
ARE YEARLY CHECK-UPS NECESSARY?
No.
Breast implants of high quality reduce the chance
of complications. Consequently, unless advised differently by
the surgeon , a yearly check-up is not required.
CAN I STILL BREAST FEED?
Yes.
Breast augmentation does not affect breast-feeding
potential.
WHEN CAN I GO BACK TO WORK?
The recovery period is generally very short. We
advise you to take it easy in the first two weeks after surgery.
After only three weeks all activities can be resumed including
intensive sports.
