Botox ® is not just
for wrinkles! It has been used for years to treat spastic muscle
disorders.
Botox ® is used for treating vulvodynia, vulvar vestibulitis
and vaginismus. These are painful conditions of the vulvar and
the vaginal area.
The problems can be chronic, disabling and frustrating women,
many of whom are unable to have intercourse without pain.
Botox® therapy for vaginismus and vulvodynia (pain)
Help! My vagina is
too small! too tight!
The adult vagina itself is not too small to accommodate a penis.
The walls of the vagina are very stretchy, but its entrance can
go into a spasm when your partner tries to insert his penis.
This condition is called vaginismus, and Botox can help!
Vaginismus is an abnormal, cramp-like, condition of the vaginal
muscles. In particular, it interferes with intercourse making
it, not only painful, but even impossible. Refraining from sex
is, of course, not the way most women want to go.
Botox is a proven long-term muscle relaxant. It has been extensively
used in facial aging and spasticity. It is administered by fine
needle injection directly into the offending muscles.
Botox will paralyze and relax cramping muscles temporarily, usually
for three to six months. No anaesthetic is required.
The treatment takes place as an outpatient procedure.
We tend to inject the minimal amount necessary and prefer to give
additional shots, free of cost, should the treatment be inadequate
after two weeks.
A Botox ® injection may
cure vaginismus
The antispasmodic effect will disappear entirely
over time, but the effect of a normalised sex life during this
period may actually cure the vaginismus.
Should vaginismus recur after the Botox effect has worn, repeat
injections may be required.
The Wellness Kliniek carries the ISO 9001/14001
