Your stomach operation in the Wellness Kliniek
Obesity surgery: the intake consultation
To arrange an appointment it is best to give us a quick call. During the consultation the doctor will assess whether you are a suitable candidate for a stomach reduction – stomach bypass.
The surgeon will carry out a clinical examination and will discuss all the details of the surgery with you: the anaesthetic, the blood thinning drugs, the post operative care, the recovery period and your lifestyle after the procedure.
The doctor will also ask about any medication you use. It is important to mention all medication in detail, especially if you take (illegal) drugs or blood thinning medicines (anticoagulants, aspirin, anti-inflammatories).
Obesity surgery: preliminary examination
Before the operation a number of preliminary examinations are necessary:
- 1. A full blood test;
- 2. electrocardiogram, ECG;
- 3. for smokers: chest x-ray;
- 4. Optional: psychological screening (if you wish – this is not obligatory).
If you want you can ask your General Practitioner to carry out a full blood test, a chest X-Ray and an ECG. You can do this where you live.
For a possible psychological test you can also contact a psychologist in your area.
Before you come for your consultation, you can already send us the results of your examinations, or bring them with you to your first consultation. Good preparation will save you a journey and the surgeon will be able to organise the possible “intake” at the initial consultation. You can then be operated on quicker.
Validity of the preliminary examinations: 3 months.
Of course we can also carry out the preliminary examinations for you.
We will organize your necessary appointments with a psychologist and radiologist.
The blood test and the electrocardiogram will be carried out during the first consultation.
