Perlane® is a temporary filling material for deeper wrinkles and restoring volume to the lips.
Perlane® is safe. The treatment is fast and simple with immediate results.
Perlane® lasts about 4 to 6 months, depending on the treated area.
Deeper wrinkles can be filled with Perlane® and an injection in the lips ensures increased volume. Perlane® is also used for providing increased volume to the cheeks and chin.
Perlane® is a gel comprised of water and hyaluronic acid. Perlane® contains more hyaluronic acid, causing the gel to be heavier in composition and therefore more suitable for changing facial structures, filling deeper wrinkles and furrows, and restoring volume to the lips.
Similar to Restylane, Perlane® is natural for the body and is 100% biocompatible. Hyaluronic acid is a normal part of skin and thereby eliminates chances of allergic reactions. Therefore, the patient does not need to be tested for hypersensitivity.
Perlane® has very few side effects. Some normal reactions to injections such as; light swelling, skin discoloration and sensitivity could occur around the location of the injection. This reaction is temporary, usually disappearing completely after a few days. If you are taking blood thinners or other medication, mention this to your physician.
Experiencing pain varies by individual. Before treatment starts, the physician could pre-treat the skin with a narcotic cream, through which you would feel little or none of the injection.
During the first few days following treatment, you should not apply firm pressure on the treated area to avoid causing shifting of the injected substance. It is advisable to avoid dental treatment for 5 days.
A Perlane® injection must be repeated in some cases for optimal results.
Perlane® lasts about 4 to 6 months, depending on the treated area. After that period, the injection can be repeated without complications.
