Tumescente lipo-sculpture is a safe procedure and is the most effective way to
eliminate excess fat.

Permanent removal of excessive fat tissue is a prevalent procedure in cosmetic surgery. The procedure has become very popular thanks to Lipo-sculpture's reliability, safety, and fast recovery rate. Every Lipo-sculpture undergone at the Wellness Kliniek, is performed by a certified plastic surgeon in a sterile modern operation room with state of the art monitoring.

General anesthesia is not necessary. Intravenous sedation is used but the strength is discussed before the procedure with you and the sedation specialist. It is also possible to receive only a local anaesthetic. The type of sedation used is based on your wishes and the type of procedure.

WHAT IS SOFT JET LIPO-SCULPTURE?

Modern lipo-sculpture, also known as Soft Jet lipo-sculpture, uses a tumescent infiltration method: which injects a large quantity of serum into the fat being treated. This numbs the area and reduces bleeding. The surgeon then uses small suction needles under low pressure to evenly and carefully eliminate fat.

LIPOFILLING

Fat can be eliminated and transplanted to areas where it is insufficient. The shape of the body is improved not only with the elimination of excessive fat but also by filling up dents and skin creases. The transplanted fat cells grow into the treated area and give it extra volume. This is a particularly important technique to correct irregularities that have occurred during previous lipo suction procedures.

WICH AREAS ARE TREATED?

In general, lipo-sculpture can take place wherever surplus fat is found. The most commonly treated areas are: the neck, upper arms, armpit rolls, hips, thighs, love handles, insides of the knees, and the stomach area. Fat balls such as lipoma can also be handled.   Various areas (see picture) 1. arm pit rolls 2. arms 3. stomach area 4. belly 5. pubic area 6. love handles 7. outer thighs 8. inner thighs 9. frontal thighs 10. inner side of the knees 11. calves Lipo-sculpture also plays a roll in breast surgery. Young girls who develop large breast also benefit from this method as it reduces the growth of the mammary glands. If caught in time, breast reduction surgery, which may leave extensive scars, may be prevented.

Men who develop breast - gynaecomastie- may also be treated with lipo-sculpture.

Lipo-sculpture is often part of extensive plastic surgery such as body contouring or in combination with endoscopic tightening of the stomach muscles.

WHO IS NOT A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LIPO-SCULPTURE?

The procedure is not designed for general weight reduction.

If you are overweight, it is recommended to go on a supervised weight loss program. If this does not work the stomach can first be endoscopically constricted. The accumulation of fluid "lymfoedema tarda" is often the cause of puffy legs. If you suffer from this condition, lipo-sculpture has little effect. The fluid components are not affected by lipo-sculpture.  

PREPARATION

If you are in good health, and do not have problems with excessive bleeding, an extensive pre-op exam is not required. If that is not the case, than a complete pre-op exam is necessary. Supplementation is given if a vitamin deficiency is present.
After surgery, the treatment area is immediately wrapped with a support bandage. It is important that this is sized and fitted in advance so it is available at the time of the surgery.
On surgery day, patients are asked to arrive at the Wellness Kliniek on an empty stomach.

THE SURGERY

You can undergo Lipo-sculpture surgery under a local anaesthetic, or if you choose with a combination of intravenous sedation.  Through a 3mm incision, a local anaesthetic containing a blood stemmer is injected into the area. The fat swells while the fat cells become more soluble. Subsequently, through small needles, the subcutaneous fat tissue is uniformly sucked away.  The fat is removed from the area within the marks made by the surgeon

You may be asked to stand up during the surgery to immediately assess the effects of gravity and to perform further corrections.

FOLLOW-UP

In general, you can go home on the same day. However, it is possible that for the first few days the wounds will leak a rosy serum. We will provide you with a mattress cover for the first few nights.

The degree of pain felt after the surgery varies between individuals. Most patients experience a minimum amount of pain after a lipo-sculpture.  The special anaesthetic used during surgery lasts for one full day. Following surgery the muscles and tissues may feel rather stiff. The supportive garments are worn for a period between ten days and six weeks. The duration varies depending on the individual case.

HOW LONG IS RECOVERY?

A few days of relaxation are ideal, although many patients continue with their daily routine the day after surgery. Keep in mind that light activity is recommended. After a few days full mobility returns. Swimming is possible after 5 days, while most other sports are possible after two weeks.

Small discomfort can occur such as local numbness and hardening of the dermis. These generally disappear within four months. Post-operative massage and lymph drainage may be helpful.

ARE RESULTS PERMANENT?

Yes.

During puberty the body produces fat cells. However in adulthood this production stops. These cells swell due to bad eating habits. Dieting causes the cells to decrease in size while lipo-sculpture completely eliminates the fat cells. After lipo-sculpture the body does not make new fat cells at the treated site.

ARE THE SCARS VISIBLE?

The incisions are so small that scarring is negligible.

LIPO-SCULPTURE FOR A FLAT STOMACH

If you have an accumulation of fat in the stomach region and the skin is still elastic, than lipo-sculpture is perfect for obtaining a flat stomach.

Sometimes, the muscles of the stomach are also slack. During the same surgery these muscles can be tightened. A small 1-2 cm scar is hidden between the pubic hair and the navel. With the same method, the surgeon is also able to make the waist narrower without leaving a visible scar.
If your skin has lost its elasticity, a tummy tuck may be necessary. Then the excess skin is eliminated in lieu for a scar. The muscles can also be tightened at the same time.
