WRINKLE treatment
LIPOFILLING – LIPOSTRUCTURE - LIPOTRANSFER -
FAT TRANSFER – TRANSPLANTION OF ONE’S OWN BODY FAT
Fat has a smooth structure and is natural for the body so it always takes on the desired shape.

During lipotransfer, fat from your own body is used for filling wrinkles, creases and indentations elsewhere in the body.
Fat transfer is also applied for contour corrections such as the raising of cheekbones, correcting sunken cheeks, or removing scars and unevenness.

Lipotransfer can help in the battle against ageing. Wrinkles and sagging skin are the natural consequences of ageing. The amount of subcutaneous adipose tissue decreases over time, through which the skin becomes thinner. Transplantation of one’s own body fat helps to combat this symptom of ageing.

Filling of lips is best achieved with other filling materials, which provide results that are more beautiful, less expensive and with better predictability.
LIPOFILLING OR LIPOSTRUCTURE?
In lipofilling, the fat is first harvested from either the abdomen or the thighs and then applied directly to the area being treated. Because the harvested material does not consist of 100% fat cells, a portion of it will break down again, meaning that several repeat treatments are often required.
Lipofilling is a fast, albeit less effective technique than lipostructuring would be. In lipostructuring, fat is harvested in the same manner, but then purified before being injected, whereby the maximum possible number of fat cells that are still intact and thus alive, are transferred. The results are therefore more precise and longer lasting.
This modern lipostructure technique and the specialised set of instruments were developed by the American doctor Sydney Reese Coleman, MD.
This treatment demands more expertise and takes more time than lipofilling, but the end results are easier to predict.
RISKS
This treatment does not generally give rise to many complications. The fat is natural for the body and thus 100% biocompatible, eliminating the need for hypersensitivity testing. A haematoma could delay the recovery process. Post treatment infection can be treated with a course of antibiotic treatment.
The fat might not grow uniformly on both sides, causing lack of symmetry. This is normally entirely correctable with a second treatment.
LIPOSTRUCTURE IN THE WELLNESS KLINIEK
The procedure is handled as outpatient treatment.
Anaesthesia
Lipostructure takes place under local anaesthesia and treatment takes about one to two hours, depending on the area to be treated. Both the donor and recipient zones are treated with an anaesthetic (liquid form) that also prevents bleeding.
Harvesting the fat
The fat is suctioned (out) with a small tube that is specially designed for this purpose, connected to a vacuum pump. The physician makes one or more small incisions in the skin of the donor zone for this purpose.
This technique ensures the least possible damage occurs to the harvested fat cells. This is an important factor in the final results.
The abdomen or inner thighs are usually selected as the donor area. This place undergoes liposuction treatment and the excess fat produced is then available for use. |

Spinning and purifying
The physician spins the harvested fat in a centrifuge then filters it. After that, the purified fat is drawn up into several small sterile syringes.
Transplantation
The physician punctures one or more small port holes through the skin in the area to be augmented. The fat is then injected carefully in very small amounts; laid down in dozens of very thin columns of grafts along tunnels under the skin. In this way the transplanted fat cells maintain maximal contact with all the surrounding tissues, such as the skin, muscles and cartilage. The surrounding tissues provide the transplanted fat cells with adequate oxygen and nutrient supply for optimal growth.
Immediate results
The results are immediately visible. About 25% excess is usually transferred, depending on the available capacity of the recipient zone.
This means the physician harvests and injects about a quarter more than required for the final result. This is necessary because it has been found that about a quarter of the transplanted cells will not take, causing the post treatment volume to shrink.
Aftercare
The area is usually swollen after the treatment and sometimes bruised, which is treated with a cold pack, i.e. a bag filled with ice. The swelling and blue discoloration gradually clear up in a few days after the treatment. With a reasonable skin concealing cream product, you could disguise any skin discoloration, allowing you to resume your social life more quickly.
A medical check-up will be scheduled for after your treatment. The final results will only be noticeable after 3 months. If needed, a repeat treatment can be discussed and planned.
End results
Once the transplanted fat cells have grown and fully settled into place, they will behave just like all the other fat cells in your body. This means they will swell in volume if you gain weight and shrink if you loose it again.
